Style in Exeter a success

Exeter Business Improvement District’s fashion event, Style in Exeter returned for the second year on 23rd September. Crowds flocked to the city centre to enjoy a series of exciting catwalk shows throughout the day. With clothing from 30 of the city’s retailers, including high street favourites, department stores and independent boutiques, the event showcased the rich and varied shopping experience that Exeter provides.

Philippa Rutherford, Exeter BID Board Director said: “I am very proud of Style in Exeter; the event was a brilliant representation of the city’s shopping and, crucially, gave the many independent retailers we have here an opportunity to promote themselves. The shows were great fun and gave us plenty of ideas, with inspiration for the autumn and winter, from retailers on our door step!”

Style in Exeter comprised of six lively catwalk shows, each professionally styled, modelled and compered. With all the latest trends for the cooler months ahead, shoppers were also given advice on styling, offers and the best bargains from retailers in the city. The free event took place in Princesshay Square with clothing supplied by well-known High Street brands Oasis, All Saints, Reiss, Jigsaw, White Stuff, Monsoon & Accessorize, GAP, Animal and new for this year House of Fraser plus more. Hotter supplied shoes for the shows while Mothercare and JoJo Maman Bébé provided a selection of clothing and accessories for expectant and new mothers.

Representing the city’s boutiques, Chandni Chowk, Lorna Ruby, Moko, My Ex Wardrobe, Stolen from Susie, Velveteen, Sanchos Dress, and NGNG all took part. Exeter College also took part, showing some of their fashion student’s work, championing young talent in the city.
