A Stitch in Time: textile design inspired by RAMM’s collections (8 week course)

10am to 1pm
Use RAMM’s collections as source material and inspiration for developing a variety of textile-based designs. Each week we will research a theme throughout art history, and as contemporary makers and artists visiting different collections, we will create new, inspired, unique textile designs.
Week 1. Colour, cloth and dye, Shibori
Week 2. Stitch and stories, using objects to inspire stitched narratives
Week 3. Design and appliqué
Week 4. Abstract design and appliqué
Week 5. Symbolism and repetition, print and stitch
Week 6. Social fabric, considering politics, stitching your story
Week 7. Gods and goddess, mixed media
Week 8. Lace and costume, re purposing and recycling, slow-fashion.

Nicci has been delivering courses at RAMM for many years and has a good knowledge of the museum’s collections, art history, painting, drawing, textile art and design.
