Local food, drink and music – the perfect recipe for a May Bank Holiday.
Back for its 16th year, the South West’s ultimate food event will be returning to Exeter this May. The Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink will be back in the idyllic surroundings of Exeter Castle Courtyard and Northernhay Gardens from Saturday 4th to Monday 6th May 2019.
One of the UK’s tastiest regions, the South West is home to many of the UK’s, (and world’s) top food and drink producers, and the festival sets to celebrate this. Visitors to the show can indulge in the very best in artisanal produce, meet the producers behind the products, learn new cookery skills and see demonstrations by Michelin-starred West Country chefs.
Supported by Visit Exeter, the festivities kick off at 6.30pm on Friday 3rd May with Exeter Beats, featuring live music, street-food, regional drinks and a lively atmosphere. Two further Exeter Beats events will light up the courtyard on Saturday and Sunday evenings with Radio Exe hosting.
The daytime festival opens on Saturday 4th May at 10am and the foodie fun continues throughout the Bank Holiday weekend with chefs, food and drink producers, family-friendly workshops and live music.
The festival is an unmissable event for anyone who loves food, drink and music. With workshop activities and over 100 exhibitors in two large food and drink pavilions, the festival is a great way to celebrate the May bank holiday.
Visitors to the show will be able to see Michelin starred chefs take to the festival Cookery Theatre, including festival co-founder Michael Caines MBE.
Michael said: “Back for our 16th year, the festival continues to thrive which is reflective of the passion driving the food and drink industry here in the south west. The festival, supported by Visit Exeter, celebrates some of the region’s top culinary talent with over 100 local producers and a great line up of chefs. Exeter Beats, takes things up a notch in the evenings with live music and street food in a unique and very special setting. There is simply no other festival like this one in the region.”
Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink is a not for profit event.
