This year Exeter will celebrate the start of the Christmas season with a special five-day event series, Five Nights of Lights. Taking place across the city from 13 – 17 November, the festive events will see the Christmas lights switched on in all quarters of the city, with street entertainment, live music and so much more.
The new format community events will have Exeter’s residents and visitors at their heart, celebrating the city’s heritage, culture, its vibrant businesses and putting the city at centre stage.
Five Nights of Lights is the official start of the countdown to Christmas with late night shopping evenings starting on Thursday 21 November, when many of Exeter’s shops will stay open until 9pm.
This year, InExeter has teamed up with the Hospiscare South West, supporting the charity’s annual Light up a Life campaign.
At Gandy & Queen Street Christmas Carnival, the streets will come alive with a carnival of colour, lights, music and festive celebration led by the Exeter Street Band and joined by Urbanflow Street Dance, Hannah Ruby, and The Richard Dale Theatre School performing FAME. Jam The Channel will be bringing a Bad Christmas Jumper Rave to the night, hosted by Dame Betty Bon Bon from Exeter Northcott’s Beauty & the Beast pantomime – where the baddest jumper will win tickets to see the show.
Join Ashley Jeary from Radio Exe as he will be broadcasting live from each event, plus the Radio Exe Crew will be there each night for your chance to win some InExeter gift cards as part of our festive competition, plus grab a selfie with our elfie for even more chances to win!
