Illustrating Exeter
This event has now finished!
Starting with his early influences, Aylwyn takes us through changing methods of reproduction, his own design processes and some of the thorny issues in protecting copyright.
Aylwyn has gained a widespread reputation as a poster specialist. A Welshman, long-settled in Exeter, he studied at Exeter College of Art and set up a studio in the city, employing a local team and attracting designers from London. His series of landmarks in Exeter, including RAMM, make a colourful display along the Queen Street railway bridge, opposite M&S and near the entrance to Exeter Library and his illustrations for Exeter City Council can be seen on signage at more than twenty gateway sites leading into the city. His winning design for RAMM’s 150th Anniversary year was used on merchandise in RAMM’s Shop and latest projects include work for Exeter Science Park. These and other designs are included in this highly-visual presentation.
