Mrs Treadwin’s Victorian lace manufactory was based in Cathedral Close. Winning medals in International & National Exhibitions her lace was always of the highest quality in both design and production. Whilst maintaining the traditions of Devon lace she experimented to produce new techniques and revisited old laces to test the market.  With a Royal Warrant at the age of 27, she supplied lace to the local ladies as well as for Victorian Royalty.  Her legacy lives on! Come and hear Carol McFadzean, former Chair of The Devon Lace Teachers, tell us Mrs Treadwin’s extraordinary story.
