Join a 60-minute tour to explore RAMM’s World Cultures galleries which contain objects exploring the indigenous people and cultures of the Pacific Ocean, Asia, Africa and the Americas. Many of these items are very rare.

The objects on display were mainly acquired in the 19th century by mariners, travellers, traders and missionaries, especially those serving in the British Empire as soldiers and colonial administrators.

Today, RAMM participates in broad discussions about how and why these objects came to Exeter, and this tour examines the themes of cultural and social awareness, ceremony, trade, exploration and colonisation through the history of these intriguing objects.
