Nestled just behind Exeter’s High Street is Circa 1924, the city’s independent Seafood & Steakhouse. Established three years ago, by childhood friends Rob and James, Circa 1924 is the destination for all occasions.
Set over two floors, Circa 1924 boasts a beautiful downstairs restaurant that has a vintage chic décor, as well as its best feature, the delightful top floor jazz and swing bar that will leave you dancing the night away.
The team pride themselves on providing fresh, ethically sourced, local produce to their customers, whilst making as much in house as possible – even the butter! They want food to be both an experience and a conversation; therefore they encourage a food sharing culture amongst family and friends.
The same ethos translates to their bar where they offer an extensive seasonal cocktail list, alongside many other quality tipples. A word of advice though; a trip to Circa 1924 is not complete without indulging in one (or a few) of their inhouse infused gins, in particular the grapefruit edition.
Circa 1924 is a fixture in Exeter’s music scene, showcasing local bands three nights a week, and the occasional touring group, with an emphasis on jazz, blues and soul records.
Next time you are puzzling over where to spend your night, keep it simple and head straight to Circa 1924.
