Take just a few steps down Sidwell Street and you will come across Ebdons Refreshments. The wonderful café, delicatessen and bar that has you covered from breakfast to night cap.
For this week’s #FindItInExeter we met with Poppy at her welcoming eatery, to discover everything there is to know about this newly opened gem.
Opened in November of last year, Ebdons Refreshments serves up locally roasted coffee, European wines, cocktails, craft beers and ciders, alongside delicious, freshly prepared food. Ebdons offers plates transitioning easily from day to night, with homemade granola in the morning, to delicious soups, heart-warming stews, local produce platters and mixed salads on into the evening, and cooked brunches at the weekend. What’s even better, the majority of what you can tuck into at the café can be taken from their deli home.
The original Ebdons Refreshments was owned by one of Poppy’s ancestors during the last century. Ebdons across Devon and beyond have been involved in food, drink and hospitality, with a legacy which includes inns, butchers and farms.
Therefore, for Poppy, finding an identity for her business was an easy connection. Through being inspired by the great local producers that they now work with, Poppy and her team have followed in her Ebdon ancestor’s footsteps and are proud to be bearing the name of so many brilliant Devonshire people.
Ebdons space is also more than just a place to eat. The venue can host bespoke events and parties, and there are a range of evening events planned to include live music, craft workshops, supper clubs and a fortnightly quiz. First on the agenda, is the monthly supper club, which kicks off on Valentine’s Day which will include a three-course meal, followed the next month by The Rusty Pig taking over the hob on 14th March for a four-course extravaganza!
So, whether you are after a fresh foodie destination, a catch up over a coffee (or something a little stronger) morning or night, or simply a cosy place to chill with a board game and friends, Ebdons is definitely the place for you.
Ebdon’s is open Monday – Saturday 8am – 10:30pm, and Sunday 10am – 10pm.
