Are you a hobby crafter but find your beautiful creations are gathering dust at home? Well a brand-new business has popped up on Paris Street that is every crafters dream…
For this week’s #FinditinExeter we chatted with Sonya from Exeter Craft Hub to find out all about her artsy shop that sells local crafts, teaches crafts and provides a space to craft!
Opened less than a week ago on Saturday 5 October, Exeter Craft Hub is a centre for local craft in the heart of Exeter. It offers both adult and children’s workshops, crafting hot desks and help, alongside the main concept behind the launch of the business – items for sale hand-crafted by local makers.
As a decopatch, patchwork and needlepoint fanatic herself, Sonya knew there were many people in the region creating pieces of work in their spare time with nothing to do with them once finished. That’s when the lightbulb moment came for Exeter Craft Hub! Unlike anything else in the city, hobby crafters can pay for a shelf in the shop at a weekly rate to display and sell their goods – as a bonus they also receive all the proceeds from their sales. So far 24 makers from Exeter and the surrounding area are selling their goods in Exeter Craft Hub, including jewellery, candles, pottery, knitting and decopatch.
Desk spaces are available to rent at an hourly and daily rate. Here you can bring in your own projects to work on or use supplies available to purchase from the shop, and if you need some technical help the team of crafting experts are more than happy to help. Perfect for the projects you’ve been meaning to start but haven’t got around to yet, or for a rainy day when you’re looking for a way to entertain the kids or yourself! This month you could carve a pumpkin or be organised and make festive cards for your family.
Creative Craft Hub also hosts seasonal workshops by the team and local crafters. Coming up are decopatch, pebble painting and doodles – with the seasons changing it’s the perfect way to hibernate and be mindful through crafting.
