For this week’s Find It InExeter we wandered down to Fore Street to catch up with Sam at Jelly; Exeter’s inspiring and nurturing pre-loved children’s retail store.
Jelly stocks a colourful collection of donated items including baby goods, clothing, toys and books covering ages up to 11+ years. If you are somebody who doesn’t have a huge budget or simply loves a bargain, Jelly has you covered. With a highly-stocked range of wonderful children’s clothing priced at 3 pieces for £1, you won’t know what to pick up first.
Not only is Jelly your one stop destination for affordable children’s wear, it also has a welcoming rest space and breast-feeding friendly zone. This funky area is available for anyone to use, complete with changing facilities and toys to amuse the little ones.
However, if you didn’t realise already, Jelly is more than a shop: it is a project run by a local charity, Exeter Community Initiatives. The charity’s aim is to help people who are facing inequality, homelessness and living on a low income. Jelly opened its doors to offer individuals the opportunity to develop both life and retail skills through training, in order to help improve their livelihoods.
With the busy Christmas period approaching, and lots of pre-loved cosy clothing and exciting toys ready to fill the shop, Jelly now needs more volunteers!
Can you help?
Whether you would like to gain experience on the shop floor or behind the scenes in their warehouse, Jelly can offer variable shifts and training in both people and retail skills alongside the chance to enrol in certified courses; from health and safety to data protection.
If you are looking for an opportunity to upskill and get back into employment, pay Jelly a visit or call Sam on 01392 435835 today.
Jelly’s new opening times are as follows: Monday to Saturday 9:30 – 12:30 and 1:00 – 5:00
