#FinditinExeter with The Pursuit of Hoppiness

The Pursuit of Hoppiness is two years old tomorrow! This little but mighty pub is a monument to real ale, scrumptious cider and wonderful wines. The team source the very best from micro-breweries and cider makers in the south west and beyond, and even have their own running club!

For this week’s #FinditinExeter we caught up with manager Joel to discover more about this Exeter craft drink destination and to get the lowdown on how they’ll be celebrating turning two.

Joel joined The Pursuit of Hoppiness team six months ago after supplying the pub with beer from his own micro-brewery. This passion for quality beer is put to good use at The Pursuit of Hoppiness. Here Joel, alongside his team of three, offers customers a line-up of craft beer and real ale that changes weekly. Joel’s top picks of breweries include Falmouth’s Verdant, Manchester’s Cloudwater Brew Co, the USA’s Stillwater Artisanal and Exeter’s very own Topsham Brewery.

The Pursuit of Hoppiness is one of a handful of free houses in the city centre, meaning Joel has full reign on what beers and ciders the pub sells. They have also partnered up with their next-door neighbour Hartnell Fresh Foods, so customers can bring in hot food from this butcher to enjoy in the pub with a pint.

The Pursuit of Hoppiness regularly host events including tap takeovers, beer tastings and are in the midst of helping to organise Exeter Beer Weekend in May – you can keep up to date with what’s going on by checking out the pub’s Facebook page. The pub has also extended an invite to join them tomorrow from 5pm to celebrate their second birthday. There will be a live DJ and a very special line-up of both cask and kegged beers. This birthday party is also tying in with their monthly Mikkellar Running Club, which will be starting at Pursuit of Hoppiness at 11:30am for 5km of running. This craft beer running club is for all abilities and always ends at the pub for discounted beer and merriment.

Whether you prefer beer, cider, wine or perhaps something stronger, Pursuit of Hoppiness has a drink to suit your tastes in their chilled establishment on Longbrook Street.

The Pursuit of Hoppiness is open every day of the year, aside from Christmas Day. Monday – Thursday 12pm – 11pm, Friday – Saturday 12pm – 12am and Sunday 12pm – 10pm.
