Nestled in the heart of Fore Street, The Real McCoy is one of Exeter’s most beloved vintage clothing shops. This popular indie is located in Exeter’s West Quarter which has for many years been one of Exeter’s hubs of independent retail.
In 2001 the shopping arcade, originally known as The Fore Street Centre, was renamed McCoy’s Arcade because of the store’s popularity and love from the public. This continues to show as the reputation for recycling and reusing materials becomes ever more so popular in the Exeter community.
Shop owner Jo is proud to offer a personal and friendly experience to all of her customers, while selling exceptional vintage clothing at a fair price.
“After more than 30 years, we are still constantly working to get the best stock at the best prices. Our vintage clothing range is vast, dating from the roaring 20’s to the raving 90’s. One of our biggest hits with customers is the American favourite Levi jeans, which are sold for only £20 a pair! We source from all over the world, which we think makes our products extremely popular.”
The store is known for holding/taking part in events including the very popular £1 yard sale, and the Fore Street Flea which has grown into a popular city event.
The Flea celebrates the independent businesses on Fore Street and is a chance for residents, locals and visitors to browse through over 120 stalls of preloved items, handmade designs and vintage wares, indulge in some street food and have some summer fun! The next Fore Street Flea will take place on Sunday 22 July.
