InExeter is searching for a city star to switch on the Christmas lights

InExeter and Radio Exe have teamed up once again to offer local singers and bands the chance to ‘Star InExeter’ and win a slot at this year’s Christmas light switch on event. New for 2018 is an under 16’s category – the junior winner will have the chance to take centre stage and join other special guests to turn on the lights, as well as performing on stage as part of a jam-packed programme of festive entertainment.  Winners of the plus 16 category will have the opportunity to perform on the new centre High Street stage to the thousands of people gathered to celebrate the countdown to Christmas.

For the third year, InExeter will host the city’s Christmas lights switch on event with a huge party for all the family culminating in the lights being switch on at a new time of 5pm on Sunday 18 November. City residents and visitors can enjoy the celebrations from 11am on the Sunday when a timetable of live music and entertainment will get underway. Radio Exe favourites Ben Clark and Ashley Jeary will welcome this year’s Junior Star in Exeter and special guests to the stage at 5pm to press the button that will switch on Exeter’s best lights display yet.

Star InExeter opened in October with bands and singers sending their audition pieces into Radio Exe. The organisers are also holding open auditions on Saturday 10 November at Exeter Phoenix at 11am. Patrick Cunningham of Exeter Phoenix and Ann Hunter, manager of InExeter will be joined by Radio Exe presenter Ashley Jeary and local musician Adam Moran to judge the hopefuls.
