This year InExeter has teamed up with local charity, Hospiscare, to support the charity’s annual Light up a Life campaign, which offers friends and family a way of remembering people during the festive period.
The charity installs a beautiful Christmas tree outside the main entrance to the Cathedral, swathed in hundreds of white lights representing the people who are remembered in Hospiscare’s Light up a Life book of memories. The tree is a touching and beautiful part of the Christmas market.
Donated by Clinton Devon Estate each year and put up by Heaver brothers and Sherwoods, the tree is in place from November 12th until 12th night, 5th January 2020.
InExeter paid a visit to the Fore Street shop for this month’s ‘Charity of the month’ campaign to find out more about this much-loved charity that supports those in need of care for any type of terminal illness.
Hospiscare is a local charity whose shop has a fantastic range of quality second-hand furniture, clothing, books, games, small electricals and wonderful vintage pieces waiting to be discovered.
Store manager, Hayley Searle said; “I love being a part of Hospiscare. This charity is so loved and well thought of, it’s great to be part of it. This is a very busy time of year for us with seasonal shoppers, students returning and Christmas stock hitting the shelves.”
Our shop offers so many different products including a very popular haberdashery department which is home to new and donated wool, scrap materiel as well as a pick and mix selection of buttons, bows and ribbons – perfect for any Christmas crafts!”
The Fore street shop are always looking for volunteers with volunteer recruitment being a high priority. The shop currently has 12 volunteers in total but with many roles to fill and opening seven days a week volunteers are always needed.
