Our Charity of the Month is Jelly which is situated on Fore Street. Jelly is a children’s charity shop selling quality used children’s clothes, shoes, toys, and accessories. This is a charity shop with a difference. Not only does it sell donated goods, but with Exeter Community Initiatives the team also train people who are out of work and develop their skills to get back into the workplace.
InExeter paid a visit to the children’s charity shop to find out more about this treasure trove which stocks a vast collection of colourful items including baby goods, clothing from newborn to teenagers as well as maternity wear, small furnishings, CDs, DVDs, books and accessories. Should you be on a limited budget or simply love a bargain, Jelly is a must visit. With a highly-stocked range of wonderful children’s clothing starting at prices as little as 3 pieces for £1, you won’t know what to pick up first. On our visit we spotted a copy of The Day by Day Pregnancy Book (an amazing guide for expectant parents) and the Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson.
Not only is Jelly your one stop destination for affordable children’s wear, it also has a welcoming rest space and is breast-feeding friendly zone. This child-friendly area is available for anyone to use, complete with changing facilities and toys to amuse those tiny shoppers.
Jelly is run by a local charity, Exeter Community Initiatives (ECI). The charity’s aim is to help people who are facing inequality, homelessness and living on a low income.
