5. Alfie’s Night Out

Take your children on a magical tour of the RAMM with Alfie. Victoria Byron’s ‘Alfie’ sits among the other birds in the Gallery, but he comes alive at night to explore! Victoria has created colourful illustrations using some of the museum’s well known objects, and some less noticed.  The tour shows Victoria’s sketchbooks, inspiration and creative process. Children will create their own stories with a puppet theatre, and explore a number of books you and your parents may have read when you were little. Alfie’s Night Out will be available from the Shop at RAMM, and the original illustrations will be on display alongside some of Victoria’s sketch books in an exhibition from 20 April to 2 September in Gallery 22. Pick up a leaflet from reception and follow Alfie to find out more about the museum objects in the book.

6. World Cultures Mask Making – RAMM – 30th May – 2nd June

Get stuck in and get creative! This workshop will see your children designing and making masks inspired by the new RAMM World Cultures gallery.  Take things one continent at a time, including Asia and the Americas, experience mask-making at its finest.

7. Storytime in the Gallery – RAMM – 30th May – 2nd June

Snuggle up and enjoy 4 days of stories from around the world. Guest readers will transport you and your children to new and exciting places, including Africa and Oceania. Storytime in the Gallery will run alongside the museum’s mask-making workshops.
