As you’ll soon realise going out and unwinding is an important part for all students. Use this guide to help you plan all those big (or small) nights out in Exeter!
A short walk up Pennsylvania road and you are met by a wide array of vibrant clubs, bars and pubs all in a central location within the heart of the city. For more chilled and laid-back atmospheres, bars such as Monkey Suit are great for cocktails and locally brewed ales to either start the night or spend hours enjoying a drink and some casual conversation.
For the bigger party lovers Exeter is home to several clubs where you can dance the night away! However, it is important to select your night out according to the day of the week, with Fever and Unit 1 popular on Mondays and the illustrious Timepiece the place to be on Wednesday and Friday nights. Sports socials pack out the 3-storey club on a Wednesday and you’re bound to see some familiar faces out and about with the contrast of smart sports ‘ones’ and some eye-catching fancy dress on display!
Alternative nights include the ever popular ‘Cheesy Tuesday’ at Unit 1 for your favourite throwbacks and Timepiece also hosts a salsa night on the same day. For more indie and gig occasions Exeter boasts the ever-popular Cavern which is an underground venue with a great atmosphere and events all through the year, previously accommodating big names such as Coldplay and Muse. Exeter Phoenix is a slightly larger venue which holds other concerts and events such as London born Loyle Carner. For those willing to go slightly further afield, tucked away in the picturesque and seemingly tranquil setting of the Quay is Exeter’s popular underground dance club Move, which comes alive when the night falls till the early hours of the morning.
