Calling all art and animation lovers this summer, the Exeter Phoenix has a wide range of courses available for you to test your talents and learn something new! With workshops for the children and course for the adults, you can all get involved in a little bit of fun summer learning!
Life Drawing – Monday 5th August
With the experience of two tutors, this one-day workshop is great for both returning artists and beginners. Bringing together an insight into art history, technical aspects and a fun-filled day for the summer season. You will have the opportunity to observe others at work to learn from as well as the human form first hand, providing you with a great canvas on which to build your masterpiece. Explore your creative side with the life drawing workshop this August!
Photography for beginners – Tuesday 9th August
This one-day course will teach you many basic photography skills such as understanding aperture and shutter speeds as well as experimenting with compositions and lighting techniques. The session will include both shooting and editing photographs providing great experience paired with expert advice and a chance to meet more like minded people!
Fun with 2D animation: Character creation and replacement animation – Monday 15th August – 8-14 years
Keep the kids entertained this summer with a fantastic animation workshop this August which will take storytelling to a whole other level. In this workshop, each child will have to opportunity to work with a fantastic animation expert with over 14-years of experience, learn creatively and make friends at the same time!
Adobe InDesign – Thursday 18th August
The print industry standard program InDesign is a complex, but fantastic program. Working in partnership with other software such as Photoshop and Illustrator, InDesign creates a great designing platform with skills taught that are transferable to a variety of products and needs. This workshop is aimed at beginners, and across the two-days, participants will gain knowledge in the program such as using the tools, arranging text and images as well as exploring design techniques and rules that may be helpful in future projects.
Textile Art – Wednesday 31st August
The five-week course provides an investigation into fabric as an art medium, giving you the opportunity to explore the textures, aesthetics and qualities of textiles. The sessions will offer an overview of art history as well as allowing you to create your own masterpieces through the fabrics, portraying stories and messages in a slightly more unusual manner.
