selling on Etsy.com, the online marketplace for handmade and vintage goods, and encouraging people to look locally for this year’s Christmas presents.
More than 50 local Etsy sellers will be selling at the Exeter Etsy Team’s Etsy Made Local market, with products ranging from stationery to jewellery, homewares to clothing, handmade bags and accessories to artwork. The event will give the people of Exeter and beyond a chance to discover some of the best of the area’s creative community, allowing them to connect with and buy directly from local makers and designers. As well as providing the perfect opportunity to find unique, affordable and meaningful gifts in the lead up to Christmas, the event will also include live music on the Thursday evening and Sunday, refreshments and free glitter face painting on Thursday evening and a raffle in aid of the Exeter Foodbank across the three days.
Group spokesperson, Rosie Johnson said “This is going to be a totally unique shopping experience in the heart of Exeter, supported by Exeter Phoenix in their wonderful new space for Devon based designer/ makers. Now more than ever, we can see that people really value independent businesses and variety and this is the perfect opportunity to support local makers and buy beautifully made, quality items directly from the people who made them.”
The Exeter Etsy team consists of a tiny team of volunteers, designer and artist Jess Pearson, artist Lily Faith Spencer and illustrator Rosie Johnson who all live and work in Devon.
